What do youu thinkk of Marilyn Manson? Is he responsible for the Columbine shootings?

i think that guy is a lunatic and needs to commit suicide, as he is blinding many with his bull. And yea he is in a way responsible for columbine... The shooters listened to his music

What do youu thinkk of Marilyn Manson? Is he responsible for the Columbine shootings?
Eric and Dylan had been planning this for a long time. Go to Columbine Shooting.com and read up on all of it. They were full of hatred and they hated the world. They felt they were bullied and all that. Noone is to blame except them 2. They said they wanted to leave a mark in the world. Well, they did. I hope for their souls they are resting in peace. Cant blame the music, movies, video games or nothing but those 2 boys. THEY SNAPPED just like the guy that murdered all those people on April 16th at VT.People are responsible for everything they do. If they are in their right minds they go after the person who is bullying them and not innocent people.
Reply:He is as much to blame for it as you or I. He merely sings. And in one way or another, haven't the "victims" themselves contributed to their own demise?
Reply:Marilyn Manson's music didn't make those kids pull the triggers. If listening to the music was all it took, well, I'd be doing some mass murders right now. I happen to like that band and have for a long time (before they "hit it big"). You think Marilyn Manson is a lunatic, but have you ever heard him in an interview? The guy is pretty dang smart. What he does with his band is done for shock factor. Shock factor = greater sales. He's a brilliant marketing guy. He knows how to sell records. That is the only thing he's guilty of.
Reply:His music sucks but I don't think he is responsibly for Coumbine.
Reply:Reading your question makes me want to shoot someone... you! People need to take responsibilty for their actions.
Reply:People are responsible for their own actions! Everyone has to stop trying to find someone else to blame for when things go wrong. So what if they listened to marilyn manson? What if they had listened to Neil Diamond and still done the shooting? I listened to some twisted stuff when I was young, and I never had a thought of doing anyone in because of it. Those were just two depressed, deranged individuals.
Reply:You're a ******* idiot. While you're at it, blame Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest and the Beatles' "Helter Skelter" for all the world's woes.
Reply:I think all people should be responsible for their own actions. Everyone makes his or her own decisions. Blaming some one else for your actions is just plain stupid. Just because the kids that killed so many at columbine listened to Marilyn Manson songs is no reason to blame Marilyn Manson. That is the same as blaming the state or country for requiring kids to go to school. If we did not make kids go to school than they would not have killed others. I wish people would just take responsibility for thier own decisions and quit blaming every one else.
Reply:Personally, I don't care for his music. So, like any rational person, I just don't listen to it. Anyone who is going to take advice on what to do with their lives from music, anyone's music, has problems to begin with. You can't blame the music because people are messed up. Harris and Klebold would have done it no matter what they listened to, they were screwed up people.
Reply:Listening to Marilyn Manson music has nothing to do with the shooings, I listen to Marilyn myself and don't go round shooting anyone, if they had been Britney Spears fans would she have been blamed?
Reply:no he is not responsible
Reply:Was John Lennon responsible for the "Manson family" murders?

Everyone is responsible for his or her own actions. Life is all about choices - the only thing you don't get to choose is whether you die at the end. The Columbine shooters made their own choices.

The video in youtube about the columbine high school masacre in the library is real??
There are several videos on youtube and NO not all of them are real. The one that is of the commons (lunch room) is real. All others are from movies. The only place in the school with a camera (at that time) was the commons.
Reply:They are real, yes.

and absolutely tragic.

and police officials are Kookoo.
Reply:That was a very tragic event I really don't like how they released the video's whoever had the authority to release them should have shown more respect for the victim's families.
Reply:what's the link to the video?
Reply:um yes it is very real.. why would you think it wasnt?

Who are the people assassinated in the news clips in bowline for columbine, and why were they?

i mean, what did they do that got someone so angry they killed them right in front of film crews?

Who are the people assassinated in the news clips in bowline for columbine, and why were they?
What apalling statistics! What a shambles! Could we have expected better? Probably not!
Reply:It depends on the clip. One was a Vietnam Prisoner, another was a Civil Rights Protestor in the US.

They are pretty famous clips.

[edit] "What a Wonderful World"

The movie then cuts to a montage of American foreign policy decisions, with the intent to contradict McCollum's statement, and cite examples of how the United States has, in Moore's view, frequently been the aggressor nation (set to the song "What a Wonderful World" performed by Louis Armstrong).

The following is an exact transcript of the onscreen text in the Wonderful World segment:

1953: U.S. overthrows Prime Minister Mossadeq of Iran. U.S. installs Shah as dictator.

1954: U.S. overthrows democratically-elected President Arbenz of Guatemala. 200,000 civilians killed.

1963: U.S. backs assassination of South Vietnamese President Diem.

1963-1975: American military kills 4 million people in Southeast Asia.

September 11, 1973: U.S. stages coup in Chile. Democratically-elected President Salvador Allende assassinated. Dictator Augusto Pinochet installed. 5,000 Chileans murdered.

1977: U.S. backs military rulers of El Salvador. 70,000 Salvadorans and four American nuns killed.

1980's: U.S. trains Osama bin Laden and fellow terrorists to kill Soviets. CIA gives them $3 billion.

1981: Reagan administration trains and funds "contras." 30,000 Nicaraguans die.

1982: U.S. provides billions in aid to Saddam Hussein for weapons to kill Iranians.

1983: The White House secretly gives Iran weapons to kill Iraqis.

1989: CIA agent Manuel Noriega (also serving as President of Panama) disobeys orders from Washington. U.S. invades Panama and removes Noriega. 3,000 Panamanian civilian casualties.

1990: Iraq invades Kuwait with weapons from U.S.

1991: U.S. enters Iraq. Bush reinstates dictator of Kuwait.

1998: Clinton bombs "weapons factory" in Sudan. Factory turns out to be making aspirin.

1991 to present: American planes bomb Iraq on a weekly basis. U.N. estimates 500,000 Iraqi children die from bombing and sanctions.

2000-01: U.S. gives Taliban-ruled Afghanistan $245 million in "aid."

Sept. 11, 2001: Osama bin Laden uses his expert CIA training to murder 3,000 people.

On the website accompanying the film, Moore provides additional background information. [3]

Hey, I am doing a big project about the Columbine High School Shooting in 1999?

Hey, I am doing a big project about the Columbine High School Shooting in 1999. I would really appreciate it if you could fill out my survey below :] THANKS!!!

What do you think is the reason for school shootings?

Do you feel safe in school?

If your school has any of these:

medal detectors/video cameras/security guards/on site police officers

Does that make you feel any safer at school?

Do you believe that we as Americans should have the right to bare arms?

Do you think that 1400 kids being in a one building is safe- in other words, do you think that schools are too big to safely handle a school shoot out?

Do you think that school shootings will increase or decrease?

THANKS A LOT :]

Hey, I am doing a big project about the Columbine High School Shooting in 1999?
it happended becuase they were being picked on for so long for being "different" you can only be picked on for so long before you lose control. when your peers pick on u constantly about the same thing, you start to let it eat away at you(know the feeling was picked on through school and after columbine because i felt for the boys who did it i had to speak with the school counselor cuz the kids in my class where afraid i was gonna do something like that and that i had connections to them 2 boys)

i always felt safe when i was in school, graduated in 2001

my school did have camera's and the doors into the school were all locked, but thats becuase someone tried to kidnap a kid. but now i believe there are more cameras, my sister goes to that same school and they have had a cpl bomb threat notes left.

to bare arms...hmmm....with extensive background checks sure.

you cant control the size of the schools most places dont have the funding to have more then one school or the kids would have to travel to far. but with security and cameras and kids who are observant then they should be able to control the situation.

school shootings will increase, they give them so much media attention and go as far as showing how to hide guns in your clothes! and you can find out how to make a bomb any where online.

Do you think our failure to act after Columbine makes us partially responsible for the Virginia Tech deaths?

After Columbine several gun control bills were proposed in the house and senate, all were held up and eventually disappeared.

Are we not responsible for the deaths yesterday, since this happened before and our government took no action?

Do you think our failure to act after Columbine makes us partially responsible for the Virginia Tech deaths?
This answer won't be popular but this is my honest opinion, YES, we should make it harder to get guns but it is very likely they would obtain them one way or the other (obviously these people are crazy and crazy people find the means to commit these heinous acts with or without ease). Personally I think a much much bigger step in the right direction would be for the entertainment industry as a whole to face the fact that they have had a huge negative influence on violence in America. We see and hear so much violence we are desensitized to it and we are so sick we cannot even see that it is a problem and people argue with this point and defend it because they WANT to keep putting trash in their already polluted heads. Some people keep their sanity in spite of all the trash and some do not.
Reply:No action?!?!?!?

The Columbine incident sparked a huge nationwide debate over gun control laws and much legislation was passed as a result.

Newsflash: There are (at least) two sides to the gun issue and there are those that would contend that it is laws that restrict the ability of private citizens to carry guns for self defense against just such an occurrence are to blame for such tragedies, not the lack of gun control laws that criminals and madmen will simply ignore anyway.
Reply:Actually virtualy any study done on the subject shows that stricter gun control laws actually lead to more gun related violence. The same way prohibition didn't stop people from drinking alchohal it just simply made a lot of money for criminals.
Reply:Of course american people through their government are responsibles!!

You've given to this killer access to the arm that's killed innocent people. What did you do to avoid another Colombine?

All over the world, politics from China to Europe, from Israel to Iran condamn your gun's lobby.

Go on Young Americans, continue thinking you're not concerned, until one day yourself or someone closed to you will be shouted.

Just continue swallowing your leaders lies to make your f*ckin' wars that kill your own sons, husbands, or brothers.

etc...

How can you explain after to the rest of the world that your country still being an humanist nation??

p.s: I'm French.
Reply:No, only the fiend who killed all those people is responsible for what happened at VTech. Gun control laws certainly help in preventing such a sad incident, but ultimately it is these crazy people who are to blame.
Reply:Hell yes we should have executed those columbine children to show this is not a matter we take lightly
Reply:Until America is disarmed, these murders will continue to occur.
Reply:Gun control only keeps guns out of the hands of the law abiding citizen, there will still be guns available on the black market for the criminals. What should we do, issue guns to all teachers and students?
Reply:I am not sure whether or not, your question would have any bearing on this particular case, but there is no doubt in my mind, that this was just WAY TO EASY!! Each establishment must and should take every incident seriously and react in a proactive and safe way for all and any who would visit their campus..
Reply:More laws won't have matter it would be all feel good laws.

This guy broke a bunch of laws do you think he would care about a few more.

I don't think so.

The best thing to do is be more aware and if someone looks like they are hurting on the inside say hello.

If more people would reach out to one another he won't be shooting or if did decide to do it he would make him pause he won't see targets but people.
Reply:What are you talking about?

No one is going to "take" our guns away, we have a Constitutional "right to bear arms".

This just aint gonna happen, and if it "were" to happen, how is the Government going to go about implementing this action? 0ver 20 million gun owners or more, and you want them to take "thier" guns away?...

Seems to me, that it would be the biggest mass murder in History! Some of them are nuts! LOL! And what about the 'unregistered' guns? you wont even know they have them, till they blow your brains out...

I say, leave 'em be, and no matter what, anyone with a knife or any other implement, could of killed lots of people, not like that, but, then again, there are those "hillside stranglers, and Son of Sam who never used a gun in thier evil deeds.

Take our guns away, and we become a vunlerable Country. Why do you think no one will invade us? Because the Citizens are sometimes more armed better than our Military!

Nope, I will keep mine, thank you.

I wish you well...

Jesse
Reply:Don't be foolish. The government can't fix all social woes. Virginia Tech murders were the act of a deranged mind. If we could fix this kind of mental illness, we lessen the chance of this happening again. ...not by the government enacting more and more laws.
Reply:Unfortunately many gun laws really have no teeth. All weapons should be registered but outlaws don't register their guns because, well they are outlaws. People like this nut case are hard to stop. He killed and killed because no one could stop him. No gun law would have stopped him from killing.

Columbine was a High school and you can put more restrictions on a high school. Virginia Tech is a large College. with a campus. There is no way to lock down anything more then one building. It is built for adults who come and go as they please. It can't be fenced in and have the same restrictions. It would be very hard to stop this type of incident.

I am all for gun controll that makes sense, but it really doesn't seem to matter much in a case like this. Frankly guns are here to stay. We shouldn't have automatic weapons. Outside of that it's a no win.
Reply:I think this country definitely needs to up it's gun laws, but to be honest with you, it's not the guns that kill people, people kill people, maybe if someone who noticed the gunman's strange behavior tried to REALLY help him, maybe we could have prevented this to begin with. We need to educate the children and well as parents about the importance of strong mental health. With parents having to be away from home to work, and growing access to every type of media (music, television, computers, etc), children are educating themselves and becoming more detached from family. They also may not feel like they have a trusting adult to go to, or know where to go to, for help. I'm 24 and this guy was 23, and sometimes I feel depressed, or stressed, or hopeless, but to feel the extreme that this young man did, meant that he needed help and didn't know how to ask for it. If this country concentrated on developing healthy relationships in children, perhaps they wouldn't grow up to be harmful adults. But it does have a lot to do with the parents. I ask "What do his parents think of this matter?" and "Did they have any inclination their son would do such a thing? and if not, why weren't they more involved in his life?". He may be considered an adult, but this was obviously a cry for help from a disturbed, little boy who never grew up.
Reply:There is one person responsible and he is dead. By the way he is the one who pulled the trigger too. Stop trying to find a scapegoat to meet your political agenda.
Reply:No we are not. One person did this. You were not him. I was not him. Why do we insist on blaming someone else?

What, if any, were the after effects of the Columbine High School Massacre?

Effects for the survivors, the families of the murdered, the school itself

What, if any, were the after effects of the Columbine High School Massacre?
Outside of those points...there are other students wanting to copy Columbine. Why must we focus on the bad news after it happens, instead of trying to figure out what causes it to begin with?

I pray that the survivors, family members and community have grown stronger in themselves and together in spirit. I would never want to be in that situation for I know I am not strong enough myself to handle it. I saw people after it happened and how well they held their heads high. I would never be able to do that. Kudos and angels to them.
Reply:well, trauma obviously, but schools across the country were affected too. schools now are sometimes even going overboard about security (a first grader was suspended for bringing to school a plastic knife for creaming his bagel during lunch). of course it can be argued that you can't be too safe, but i still felt bad for that first grader.

Was the Columbine shooting worse than Virginia Tech's?

Why is it talked more than the VTech massacre?

I thought more people died in the latteR?

Was the Columbine shooting worse than Virginia Tech's?
It was talked about more because

(1) It was in a high school, and teenagers (compared to college students) were killed. That's not to say that teenaged life is more precious than college student life, but it has to do with the unique nature of the relationship between school and children-- primary and high school are supposed to "watch after" kids--largely minors. School officials "knew" about the Trenchcoat Mafia and the bullying and did relatively little. People know that students have more "freedom" and schools have less "responsibility" for older students, and although the acts were horrible and the students nothing more than random victims, there isn't the same sort of paternalistic expectation.

(2) The Columbine shooting was the first serious act of multi-party homicide at a high school. There had previously been shootings on college campuses, so while stil terrible, it wasn't as "unheard of" as it had been in columbine.
Reply:Whenever innocent people are gunned down by a madman it's a tradegy. I don't think we can say one is worse than the other.
Reply:Perhaps because the killers and the victims were younger, mostly. But this is a subjective judgment and depends upon each individual's frame of reference.

Columbine happened longer ago and there's been more time for research, writing, documentaries, etc. Give the Vtech guy time; I'm sure he'll catch up.
Reply:Virginia Tech's death toll was 32 victims plus 1 suicide by the shooter, making 33 dead.

Columbine's death toll was 13 victims plus 2 suicides by the shooters, making 15 dead.
Reply:Both are extremely terrible. Virginia Tech had the higher casualty rate whcih means more families affected and more lives wasted.
Reply:While the Virgina Tech Massacre did have more deaths, The Columbine Shooting was ten times worse in the fact that the affect it had on school systems nationwide was far greater and the age of the students that headed off the murder several years younger. That and the fact that it was a High School not a College. You would think that something like that could never happen at a High School due to heightened security at High Schools. Plus it is more prone to happen in a college, due to stresses and the security, from my experience is much less than the average High School, even shortly after Columbine.

Do you think the Columbine shootings is one of the results of prayer taken out of school?

Saw your question and had to answer.

Prayer has been removed from schools since the 1960's.

It was replaced with a "moment of silence."

Incidences like Columbine and 9/11 prompt those who pray, to pray more.

Do you need personal prayer?

God bless.

Do you think the Columbine shootings is one of the results of prayer taken out of school?
No. If you look at the statistics, school violence has actually gone DOWN since the 80's when it was decided that teachers could no longer lead prayers.

Prayer was never taken out of school. You can pray all you want as long as you don't force anyone else to participate or interrupt class time to do it. And in the specific case of Columbine, those shooters didn't seem like the type to really care that they couldn't make everyone else pray with them.

EDIT: From this question and your other question, it sounds like your teacher has already come to a conclusion - and he/she has reached the wrong one. Actually do some research, look at the numbers. And don't quote that 'she said yes' book - it's bullshit. The other students in the room say it never happened.
Reply:While it may play a part, I blame the parents who don't keep a careful eye on their kids--too many treat teenagers like grown-ups; which they aren't ,despite their loud protests. They didn't have a clue that their kids were unpopular, loners, or unhappy?Too many parents abdicate their responsibility.

Society interferes with parental discipline when parents do try--kids lie, authorities get involved, chaos ensues.

Too many people have religion in their lives twice a year: Christmas and Easter. While better than nothing, the lessons on those holidays have very little to do with the day-to-day application of morals, virtue, and self-discipline that other lessons do. Yet, people will insist that they are "spiritual" even though they have very little knowledge or understanding of the hundreds of lessons, parables and examples of Christian ethics in the Bible.
Reply:are you demented?...that had NOTHING to do with prayer in school...that was simply a case of a negligent administration dealing with problem students that they knew to be dangerous and possibly violent...you should do some more research because columbine had one of the largest student based faith organizations in the country at the time which was run by students, so they were praying on a daily basis...not that it did them any good...

Why does the media have to exploit these tragic things that happen like Columbine and the Virgina shooting?

It's one thing to report news but when they make it seem like these dirt bags are getting popular then other crazy people start thinking well if they get attention maybe I'll go do it.

Why does the media have to exploit these tragic things that happen like Columbine and the Virgina shooting?
Its true but ratings mean sales.
Reply:Ratings which equal more money from advertisers.
Reply:The more they show anything about this incident, the more people are going to watch for more or new information thus meaning ratings go up. When ratings go up, the station can charge higher for advertisment for product since it will get the most exposure during this time.
Reply:I love this question ....the answer is, the news media is a business just like McDonald's or Coke or Gap ....if they don't sell they don't survive. So, what is that they sell? They sell demographics ( people - you and me ) to their advertisers.

Now, here's a question. Why did Imus get fired ? Because the advertisers that paid for access to the air "slot" during the Imus show decided that there were enough outraged listeners ( again, you and me ) that they were no longer willing to risk " guilt by association " with Imus and possibly lose the purchase dollars of ? You and me !

So, in my opinion ....when enough of you and I turn off the TV when the media exploits tragic situations like 9/11, Columbine and the Virginia Tech shooting then that is when our nation will start to move the media to put out news for profits....and not sensationalism for profits !
Reply:What do you want them to do? Completely ignore it like we didnt just have the worst school shooting in the history of this country? People want to know exactly what happened, and it's medias job to do that.
Reply:The media is a buisness and as a buisness its all about money, no philanthropy here. They want sensational news, charged emotion, drama, and negative stories grab more attention and therefore more money than positive stories. They then want to milk every story for all its worth. Now the next motivation is that, as I predicted, in less than 24 hours politicians were immediately using this tradgedy to forward their gun control legislation. The media, being largely liberal barring a few notable exceptions, then latched onto reporting this aspect of the story. So now the media serves as a tool for drilling in the emotion and tragic loss of the story meanwhile tying it to pro-guncontrol legislation. Now I personally am against strict gun control but that is of no concern here. Regardless of your stance on that issue, it is wrong for the media and the politicians to be all over this tradgedy for their own gain. Media wants money and is sympathetic to all liberal causes, and politicians are always looking for ways to advance their agenda right or wrong. They should instead leave these people alone and let them grieve their loss. They are not a tool to be used by the media.
Reply:Because there is a lot of audience and money. Is no doubt! Is a bread to eat there for they.

Were the people who shot up columbine legally insane?

or was it just 100% percent related to the media?

Were the people who shot up columbine legally insane?
They were never deemed legally insane before the act, and because they committed suicide, their sanity was never able to be tested. One would have to think, though, that anyone who commits suicide has some sort of mental issues.

Do you Think there will be any reports of copy-cats today of the 8th anniversary of columbine?

I hope not...

but what do you think?

Do you Think there will be any reports of copy-cats today of the 8th anniversary of columbine?
Arg. These "copy cats" remind me of the Scream trilogy. But the fact that 70% of america was f'ed up on weed today, i certainly wouldnt doubt any psycho trying to copy cat the incident.

But as said above me, i think the true copy cat is that Cho guy... as when the news disclosed some of his video info that he sent the gov't inbetween the two shooting sessions, he mentioned the two gunman from Columbine and compared his situation to theirs..
Reply:I hope not either, there is really nothing we can do except hope and pray nothing happens.
Reply:i hope not also but some one will probably do it just to get attention. we do have some pretty stupid people in this world.
Reply:Possible since there are enough psychos out there to fill an entire city.
Reply:i hope not course have to be on the alert just in case if any should happen.
Reply:I sure hope not, we've all been through enough already with the Va Tech shootings. Just heard that they're asking us all to wear the Va Tech school colors today. Maroon and Orange.

Take care doll.
Reply:I think the biggest copy-cat already made his mark at VT.
Reply:Five schools are closed today and two men were arrested because of copy cat incidents.

Was the FBI involved in the Columbine High School massacre?

The Columbine High School massacre was one of the worst school shootings in U.S. history, and the massacre took place on April 20, 1999. 12 students and a teacher were killed, as well as 24 injuries occured during the massacre.

Was the FBI involved in the Columbine High School massacre?
Debra D asks why the FBI would kill high school students. Columbine was not about killing students; it was about gun control. This is what these school killings all have in common: gun control. It's about getting the masses to demand strict gun control laws, which will allow for the legal collection of all guns. If the masses have no guns, how will they defend themselves against a corrupt government? It's something to think about.
Reply:people kill people its human nature get over it yeah what happened is messed up but the government wouldnt do that Report It

Reply:I highly doubt it, but as much as I enjoy a good conspiracy you nut jobs take it too far. I guess you all blame the government when someone puts the milk back in the fridge with just a drop in it left instead of opening a new bag.
Reply:Yes, and the FBI was responsible for blowing up the Twin Towers. Hello...why would the FBI kill high school students?
Reply:While I certainly am a proponant of "anything is possible", I really highly doubt it. I Believe that this was just two sad, angry, lost kids who went in and did the most damage they could do before dying themselves. In a way, I wish I could blame this on our government. That might give it some meaning, but I think this was a meaningless crime driven by way too much pain with no known outlet. It's a tragedy.
Reply:Type of violence and its effects in a locility like an Institution get importance. Violence never in school but happened. Its not the local activity U.S care education. Her title and fem is involved here. From almost every country student come to this country. So, in political view they dont underrate the incident. Therefore, the case hand over to the highest authority whose performance and activity unquestionable.
Reply:Absolutely not! What would benefit them? Nothing!
Reply:No,Those kids(the killers) were gay for hitler nutjobs.

Do you think that Eric Harris's classmates were to blame for Columbine?

Supposedly Eric Harris and his friends were bullied, and that's why they did it. They claimed their classmates brought it upon themselves. Do you think this is true? Do you think it ultimately could have been avoided?

Looking for personal opinion here, I've got my own. I want yours.

Do you think that Eric Harris's classmates were to blame for Columbine?
No. If we get like that, every kid who draws something wacky could get locked up, every stupid threat that kids make to each other would get them in trouble and most kids who run their mouths would never actually follow through and do something like that.

I do not think we can know what is going on in someone's head or heart. Unfortunately there will always be mentally ill and emotionally unbalanced people in the world, there is no way to eliminate that.

The classmates did not bring it on. Though perhaps if one is bullied for years, yes that would cause someone to snap. The parents really should have been watching what the kid was up to, and getting him counseling if he needed it.

I do not think we can or should monitor people to that extent, if we do that we would turn into something like the "thought police" of 1984 the book, or like Nazi's. We will not be able to complete rid ourselves of all psychotics, serial killers or mentally ill people for many years, even if we found the genetic tendency and had a way to correct whatever was wrong in their brain. Hopefully parents can instill good morals in their children and tend them as they grow in good people.

We just have to accept that we will not be able to control others and that the world will always be full of risks.

To eliminate all risks is to eliminate all life.
Reply:There is no question that the bullies were wrong. But this type of thing has been going on since day one --- and probably will continue.

The problem was that Eric (and his friends) were not taught to be strong by their parents (and other associates). They were deficient in their own social development and couldn't withstand the bullying without snapping.

These particular bullies were the catalyst. But if it hadn't been these bullies, it would have been others. So I'm doubtful that the incident (or a similar one) could have been totally avoided.

This is not in any way excusing the bullies. And this may be a good lesson to bullies of what could conceivably happen in future instances --- God forbid.
Reply:Any time a tragedy happens like that there is only one way to place blame, on the perpetrator!
Reply:I blame alot on the students, but more on the parents and then themselves for the killings and aftermath. I know that if I had children, I would know what they were going through, period.
Reply:It's definately a result of a mixture of things - i don't think you could blame bullies entirely, because quite frankly everyone is picked on at one time or another. It probably is a mixture of feelings of social isolation, a lack of support from family and school and quite possibly mental illness as well - millions of sufferers of depression and bi polar go undiagnosed.
Reply:i definatly think this could've been avoided

if not by the classmates by the reachers or the parents, who seemed to be absolutely withdrawn from their kid's lives

if they were girls they would've told someone about their troubles but they're not and didn't

i know it's a horrible thing to say but i think the country NEEDED this tragedy to raise awarness on the seriousness of bulling in adolecent schooling

Do Columbine bloom repeatedly, or only once?

Columbine (Aquilegia canadensis, or A. vulgaris) is a perennial; however it only blossoms once per season. Each plant will give off about a half dozen blooms usually three or four at a time and they last for about a week. Be very careful of the dried capsule of seeds and keep them away from children and pets, they are poisionous (the seeds, that is).

Brightest Blessings,

Raji the Green Witch

Do Columbine bloom repeatedly, or only once?
Mine are just now starting to bloom. They don't re-bloom in a growing season. If you don't cut the seeds from the blooms, they will plant themselves and will grow into more columbines. The green leaves throughout the rest of the season are still very lovely.
Reply:Once, but in the dead flower there are seeds that you can dry and re-use
Reply:Mine bloom once in mid-spring

Does anyone know how the beat the hell level on the Columbine PC game?

I want a serious answer. It always seems like there are these Bible-thumpers who can't read and who want to preach to me. I don't want any of that crap. I want a serious answer. If you want to preach at me, just e-mail me so I can rip you a new one.

Only way I've been able to do it is to use a cheat code. If you want it try Super Cheats.

Those Bible-thumpers are idiots. Ignore them.

Did anyone attend Columbine High School during the shooting?

Hi, I am writing a research paper on the shooting that occured at Columbine High School. I would like to know if anyone here had attended school that day in Columbine high school or the surrounding schools. If so, could you please give me some details as to what went on and what had happend after. Thanks so much, any info would be greatly appreciated.

Did anyone attend Columbine High School during the shooting?
I was in the second grade at Leawood Elementary when the shootings happened. Leawood is only a minute away from Columbine. I was in lunch, and over the intercom, the principal announced that all students had to return to their homerooms; that there was something going on outside. Since Leawood was so close to Columbine, the students came there, and I will never forget seeing their faces. They were confused, lost, and every single one was crying because they knew that people had been killed. I remember crying myself because I was afraid something had happened to my babysitter, who was a junior there.

I am now a sophomore at Columbine High School, and I would never dream of going to another school. Everyone there is wonderful and we have a ton of school spirit. We have a beautiful new library dedicated to those who died. Our softball jerseys have Dave Sanders' initials on them because he was a softball coach.

One of my math teachers was a junior there when it happened, and she said that they went across the street and into the neighborhood and houses around the school to get away from it all. There were people who couldn't contact their parents for hours because cell phones weren't as popular.

My other math teacher taught both boys. He said they were brilliant, but quiet. After the shootings, backpacks and books were all left inside; the students were not allowed back inside to get their stuff. They all finished out the school year at Chatfield High School and when they came back to get their stuff in June (maybe August?) some of teh bags had been checked and had little tags on them from teh police. My teacher said it was really creepy seeing all of their stuff sitting right where they left it.
Reply:It's very hard for me to talk about it, because I knew Eric and he was my classmate. All I can tell you is that it was the most tragic and most horrifying day of my life. Report It

Reply:I did not attend Columbine, I went to a different school at a different time.

Do schools take bullying/outcasts a lot more seriously since Columbine, Jonesboro, etc?

Before everyone jumps on me, I know the kids who did the shooting were responsible for the choices they made and no one should make excuses for them. But do schools treat bullying and kids made to be outcasts differently these days, knowing that incidents like Columbine could give bullied kids ideas if they're unstable enough?

Do schools take bullying/outcasts a lot more seriously since Columbine, Jonesboro, etc?
Bullied kids don't need ideas from Columbine or any other tragedy that they can relate to... When you are tortured by your peers, the ideas come to you naturally. I was picked on a lot at school, I hated it. I would lock myself in my room so I didn't have to go. My mom had to be at work and she didn't have time to fight with me, so I would end up staying home. I remember in 8th grade I had one pair of jeans and I had to wear them every day because I couldn't afford anything else. I was picked on really bad about that. I had 2 or 3 shirts to last but a kid put gum on my back one day and I had to throw it away. I would get things thrown at me from across the room, pushed into the locker or the wall... and I finally just stood up to myself. It didn't stop anything, they still messed with me but not as much. In highschool I never talked to anyone, I just kept to myself. I didn't hang out with anyone from school and I didn't go to lunch and I didn't go to any events. When I did try to talk to someone they would blow me off or ignore me, so what was the point? There was a boy who would make jokes about me that is considered sexual harrassment and I did turn him in to the principal once. He told me that I had to be making it up and it wasn't the same as the boys story so there wasn't anything he could do about it. I didn't understand that, when someone is sexually harrassing you OF COURSE they are not going to admit to it.

No, schools and principals and guidence counselors don't give a damn about it... and when it is too late they will swear they "didn't read the signs".
Reply:In theory and on paper, not in reality. Many have zero tolerance policies, which means they STILL don't exercise any reasonable judgment, still don't treat kids as individuals. That's not just the administrators and teachers, that means fellow students, too. No one WANTS to be alone, to be an outcast, appearances to the contrary. Talk to them, listen to them. If your being popular is the most important thing to you, then you're not just part of the problem, you ARE the problem.
Reply:No. Actually I was bullied by teachers as well. My RS teacher hit me on the face twice, maths teacher hit me on the hand for forgetting to give her my book. I was bullied for whole 6 years in Poland (kids and teachers), later I moved here and was bullied for 2 years. I told my teachers but they never did anything and eventually I landed in hospital 4 times with trial of suicide. Now everything is fine, but some schools should be ashamed of the way they are watching over their students...
Reply:No, they don't. Because if the schools really got involved there would be NO bullying ANYWHERE.

School Administrators like to push everything "under the rug." They tell you what you want to hear and once the schoolday is over, it's no longer a concern to them. They figure they've done what they're supposed to. They don't follow up on anything.

I'd like to have their paychecks to sit behind a desk and pretend I did something important.
Reply:At my school, we take it really seriously. Even if we say a person is stupid, we get sent to the principal. Every advisory day, we have to do a worksheet on Rachel Joy Scott. It's mostly about ethics and integrity. Yes, I do get aggravated at the fact that we have been working on it since September. But when you think about it, everything is worth it. At least I don't have a black eye.
Reply:Not really.

My son was getting harassed via email, phone calls, etc. He was even punched (not by the same person)! We went to the principal and we showed him printouts of the emails, voicemails, etc. The principal claimed all he could do was send the harasser to one detention!

Really, it did nothing.
Reply:nope. principal in my school don't know wtf is going on. it's not serious bullying but this girl is trying to be queen b. my school is stupid, they think that everyone is full of sunshine.
Reply:no. my brother commit suicide becasue he was bullied so badly at school and it happened after those events. i even see it going on at my school today. its sad
Reply:Nope not at all. Do you think principals honestly think of Columbine when making a decision on what to do with a bully? They don't.
Reply:Not in my area

Does anyone know how to plant the second propane tank on the Columbine PC game?

BRING ON THE HATEMAIL!!!!! Seriously, though, I really am having trouble and I want a serious answer!!! So if anyone knows how to plant the second bomb or where to plant it, let me know! If you just want to give me crap . . . . go ahead, if it makes you feel better. I like this game. It's fun.

Does anyone know how to plant the second propane tank on the Columbine PC game?
try facing the table and pressing the action button. or maybe it was the trash can, (just watch out for the security cameras)

I played it too, it IS fun.

Is it bad to be a loner as a result of columbine and virginia tech and other murderers?

Are a lot of people scared of loners or introverts as a result. Are you scared of them.

Is it bad to be a loner as a result of columbine and virginia tech and other murderers?
I am one - and have been for most of my life.

To the best of my knowledge I have never done any harm to anyone, nor do I have any desire to hurt anyone.

The greatest mass-murderer I can think off, was Doctor Harold Shipman - a pillar of his local community.

The vast majority of people - loners, or socialites, are harmless, but I think that anyone with a gun in their hand is dangerous.

Guns seem to be very easy to get hold of these days and that is very worrying.
Reply:It's bad to be a loner because you may never get laid.
Reply:I've been looking at the case recently. Every upper/high school has people who seem to be like Eric and Dylan- moody - introverted- gothy, dark. Truth is that things ran alot deeper than usual florid teenage angst with these 2. They even talked about hating Star Wars fans for god's sake!

don't be afraid of the loner Emo types because 99 times out of 100 they are not going to slaughter their classmates.- Hell, I didn't!
Reply:It's not bad to be a loner, unless you are suffering from

acute severe anti-social personality disorder,then

you are effed.

I prefer keeping to myself,I always have.

With that said,I still believe in the inherent goodness of most people and I would never get too darwinist about society.
Reply:Many loners are shy people,so I'm not afraid of them.Of course there are the other types that are crazed killers in our midst,%26amp; unfortunately you can't tell them which ones they are.If a person is a loner, but shows signs of anger %26amp; not a good fit in society, yes, then I would be afraid %26amp; watchful...
Reply:People have different reasons to be loners, whether it being shyness, social anxiety, o'r plainly because they are happier alone. I'm a loner but i can be quite sociable when i am at work. It's really unfair to think that everyone who happens to be a loner is a phsyco o'r something. Those killers in the schools had serious mental issues.
Reply:I am a loner, and that is not a bad thing, but people fear me now. It is sort of like being a Muslim. It is a perfectly acceptable way of life, but now people think you have a gun and are going to use it.

My daughter wrote a story and posted it after the columbine shootings. Anyone know where i can find it?

She posted it on one of the web sites right after the shooting. The story is written in the eyes of someone that was a victim. I have lost my cope of this and would love to find another one. She posted it the day of the shootings.

When will these columbine flowers bloom?

The link for them is here, http://www.parkseed.com/webapp/wcs/store... , and it does flower the same year it is sown, and is the only columbine that does. but, when does it bloom? it says late spring-early fall, but when should i sow them if i want themt to flower mid -late summer? it says if sown in fall it will bloom in spring, but if sown in spring it will bloom in summer. when should they be sown? should i sow them inside first? thanks. and i live in ontario canada zone 5.

When will these columbine flowers bloom?
If you can sow them directly outdoors, they will do better. Transplanting seedlings is almost always hard on them, and then they have to recover before taking off growing again. I would plant them now if you want them to be blooming by late summer or early fall :) Be careful they don't get overheated as seedlings though, not sure how hot it is near you, but it's been brutal here and I'm a zone 5 too down in the states.

Oh, whoops. I forgot that Columbine is a high school. Sorry :)

Wow. Regina must be in the very-highly-unlikely club. The two schools she goes to being a part of dangerous massacres? Wow.

Why did the two students who were responsible for the Columbine attacks choose to kill and harm people?

In their journals, the two students (whose names escape me) spoke about their elaborate plans to shoot people at school. But why did they do this? They did not really provide a motive nor an explanation. Was it revenge for feeling like outcasts? Was it revenge for their previous arrest?

Why did the two students who were responsible for the Columbine attacks choose to kill and harm people?
They were victims of bullys from what I remember and they eventually lashed out. I guess you could call it revenge.
Reply:they were stupid idiots who tried to get attention by doing something horrible. i hope their in hell
Reply:They listened to satan instead of God.
Reply:It is a sad , sad world we live in today. I see what you are saying. You would think people would have to have motives in order to create such heineous crimes, but alas, people kill just for the thrill of it. Like watching a horror movie or playing a video game . I look at the video games some gamers are playing and I am horrified that they would even consider it( Playing the game) In time video games and real life can blur I think and some people today dont know the difference between real life and imaginary life. Imaginary life is role playing on games. I wish the people who create these games which show people getting killed would quit creating such games. I wont even go to any of these kind of games.
Reply:wow..k im not sticking up for this kids...but harsh man... they were most likely bullied and tortured by their peers eventually messing them up pretty darn bad. once you go through what theyd gone thru ud be different too. so they took their revenge... all the hatred and anger they had built up inside them..well they just let it out...hopefully theyve been thru counseling and are now mentally stable.... and satan had nothing to do with it so dont relate it to him OR manson because neither had any influence.
Reply:They had been bullied cosntantly and unmercifully throughout the year. they chose to " take out" the bullies and anyone they thought supported them.

Did the columbine shooters have ADHD or OCD?

I heard this on the internet, didn't know if it was a myth or not.

Did the columbine shooters have ADHD or OCD?
I don't think we really know that information. It was all just so sad, for those two boys, for those who were struck, and all those in the school who were so terrified, their relatives, and our whole community. Still today people are reacting about it. Someone I know says she will always carry the terror and sadness with her.

And, somehow, I don't think that ADHD or OCD would make any difference one way or the other. They were mentally out of touch with reality, believing what was not true and not believing what was true. They terrorized the whole community and then committed suicide.........sad.
Reply:No, they had loaded weapons .....

What's up with these school shootings in the last 10 years? Columbine, Virginia Tech, The Amish 1 & now?

A brand new one in Illinois? Is college that bad or are lunatics everywhere?

What's up with these school shootings in the last 10 years? Columbine, Virginia Tech, The Amish 1 %26amp; now?
The true people at fault here are the parents. Parents now refuse to teach their children the difference between right and wrong. So the children take it upon themselves to solve their problems through vengeance and jealously.

If parents would just raise their kids properly we wouldn't have these problems.
Reply:It's nerve wrecking to think that someone could walk into your class and just kill you. That's it...you're done. You're dead. I worry about things like this. I go to college and I hope that never happens to me or to anyone out there.

What really scares me is that if a shooting can happen at a college... it can sure as hell happen at a high, middle, or elementary school. I have a sister in high school, a brother in middle school, and another brother in elementary. I go to school about half an hour away from where they go to school. I try to protect them as much as I can, but I won't always be there.

My friend was shot in her left eye and now has to adapt to a fake one. Another friend was killed from a shooting. What has this world come to....

They all seem to have been on anti depressants. The media likes to glorify everything about it. Makes me sick to watch 5 minutes of that Nancy Grace bull crap. Anybody notice that the last four major shootings happened in gun free zones. If they could have had a weapon they could at least have defended them selfs. What do we do, put some cops at every entrants to the premises? Metal detectors? Well that didn't work to great at the Red Lake, MN shooting. He blasted the unarmed security guard at the door and went along his way. We could give all the guards guns, but then they would hide behind trees like at Virginia Tech or Cars like at columbine until the shooter kills himself. So we can't put cops with a MP5 at schools like the Brits. That would be unethical and expensive. We can't afford to pay for our present nanny / welfare state as it is. The economy has been in the toilet for the better part of the last 10 years. They probably show them to distract you from this fact. We let our selfs become dumbed down by all these "Owe my balls!" tv shows to the point that if Britney Spears is smoking a cigarette outside her house we get five hours of commentary accompanied by a helicopter view. When a presidential candidate with a real plan and principal runs he gets a 30 second sound bite, and eventually nothing at all. It wasn't the music, movies, video games or tv shows people loved blaming in the 90s. If its because the guns, its because nobody who got shot had a gun. But besides all that, you got to ask your self when they have all been on anti depressants, "Those pills didn't work, now did they?" Really the blame only falls on the person doing it. Maybe aided by bunk meds.
Reply:It's true all of these shooters are on medication. That's the thing we should be looking at.
Reply:99.9% of people who own guns never shoot them. They have them for protection or perhaps just like to collect them. If someone wants to kill bad enough, they will find a gun or guns. No gun law will protect you from someone who really wants to commit murder.

The fact that these carnages are occurring more often than not in educational institutions is sending out a strong message that all is not well in our "ivory towers" that once promised good futures and prosperity to graduates. They are becoming war zones.

Just look at all the people who graduate and spend their life savings on it and can't find a job paying more than minimum wage. Who in their right mind would send their kid to such a place?

Access to guns is the major problem. It's so easy over there. I have a bad day, I get P'd off and eventually settle. Over there some nutter gets P'd off and grabs a gun to make people suffer like they are.

Reply:Too many guns in America.

Question about Columbine flowers?

I know Columbines take a long time to germinate, but how quickly do they grow once they sprout? Within just the past few days I noticed the first two Columbine sprouts, and I'm wondering how long it takes them to mature and start blooming.

Question about Columbine flowers?
It depends on where you live, how long your summer weather lasts. If you live in coastal CA you can have flowers by next summer. If you live in northern MN you might have to wait for 2 summers to pass before they bloom. Most will grow thru one summer and flower the next year. If you have a plant that is well adapted to your climate it can live for many years and will have increasing number of flowers every year. Columbine are not long lived, 5 years is about the maximum for most on average. Some longer others shorter. Try and start a few every year to keep the colony going. Good luck, they are very charming plants, even without flowers they have a pleasant looking foliage.
Reply:Be patient. It doesn't take that long. And let some go to seed and sprinkle them in the garden and you will have plenty the next year. Depending on what genus they are, they will probably come back true to what they where this year.

Why do people look up to Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold AKA the columbine murderers?

They murdered 12 children. People are posting videos in "loving meory" of them, not even the victims. What's it all about, i'm shocked.

Why do people look up to Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold AKA the columbine murderers?
I didn't know that! Are they really? That is downright scary. I know we have a lot of angry young people in this country today who don't even know what they're really angry about, but I didn't know it had reached the point that anyone could revere these killers. I think I'll ask a question too, what are young people angry about? Thanks.
Reply:Probably because some people think they can relate to them.Or they probably just think they're hot.

The book endgame and columbine question?

What is the book Endgame about and is their any other books about the Columbine shooting besides Rachel's Tears and She said yes?

The book endgame and columbine question?
Never read any of those books but the shooters were inspired by a book called Rage by Richard Bachman aka Stephen King. It was allowed to go out of print shortly after. Check your library for a copy of "The Bachman Books" if you want to read it.

First, there are a great many books called 'Endgame,' many of them about chess. Amazon doesn't recognize any titles when I put 'Endgame, Columbine shootings' into the search box.

You may have more luck with that if you know the author. It's always easier to find a book if a person knows who wrote it.

At Amazon are several books on this sad subject, for example:

No Easy Answers: The Truth Behind Death at Columbine by Brooks Brown and Rob Merritt ('02)

A Columbine Survivor's Story by Marjorie Lindholm ('05)

Columbine High School Shooting: Student Violence (American Disasters) by Judy S.Hasday... didn't get the date.

Then I looked for Endgame for a while, but there are thousands of books at Amazon with that word in the title...

How come people seem to feel sorry for Cho but hated the Columbine shooters?

Seems kind of weird to me.

How come people seem to feel sorry for Cho but hated the Columbine shooters?
Some people feel sorry for him because he had a serious mental illness. He was also declared mentally ill somewhere in 2005. So he probably didn't have full control over himself. In other words he might not have known what he was doing. Now the question would be, is it Cho who did this terrible thing, or the evil person inside of him which took him over that did this thing, which he called "Ishmail Ax"? It's hard to answer this question. I think Cho is just a victim of his own. He was sick in the head, especially after you read those stories he wrote.

They should have locked him up somewhere, he would have been much happier, since he seemed to live in his own mind/world anyways. Society was clearly not a place for him.
Reply:Who in the heck feels sorry for Cho?? I haven't heard anything about that....
Reply:Im sorry, who has sympathy for this guy?!!!
Reply:Cho.......sorrow? please..... The only people I have sorrow for is the peoples life's he has affected. Why couldn't he just kill only himself instead? Then I would feel sorry for him. As for the Columbine shooters, no one felt sorry for them because of the same reason. The only real difference is one was by himself, the other was a group. One was in a high school the other at a college, and the body count. Both are tragic and done by people messed up in the head.
Reply:I don't feel sorry for Cho.......???? If you've heard otherwise then we are becoming far too politically correct.
Reply:Like others are saying, I haven't heard anyone feel sorry for Cho. ..pretty much the opposite...that he was a weird, dangerous kid and that many who knew him were afraid of him.
Reply:I don't feel sorry for Cho -- I feel sorry for all the victims that he killed for no reason.

If he would have been taught to handle his emotions and feelings in a healthy manner, I'm sure all those killings would have never happened.

Same goes for the kids at Columbine. I don't remember the whole story but I'm sure they had a lot in common with Cho as far as being made fun of and not being able to handle anger properly.
Reply:Maybe because Cho was a complete loner who didn't have anyone AT ALL.

I would have felt a lot of sympathy for Cho and would have felt sorry for him if he didn't do what he did. I wish someone could have helped him before this wound up happening.
Reply:I feel sorry for Cho, his family, and those who were killed.
Reply:I don't know if I feel sorry for all of the shooters, but they were obviously some very disturbed individuals who took our their hate and disdain for others with extreme violence.
Reply:they hate Americans

why do they want to come to USA?

they should leave USA
Reply:Probably because Cho was alone and isolated but the Columbine shooters had each other to rely on for support and together chose to murder innocent people.
Reply:I haven't seen anyone who felt sorry for Cho. I know I dont, but I do pray for him as well as those he violently took the lives of.

How important is the NFL columbine?

Should you rate a player on how far he throws, how how fast he runs or rate him by his game film? but it obviously affects the player on what round he might get drafted, thats for sure.

How important is the NFL columbine?
It is soooo over-hyped. Just because someone puts up good numbers at the combine, it does not necessarily mean they will be a star in the NFL like in college.
Reply:Well it's combine XD Columbine was a tragic school shooting. I'd say it's fairly important, but not all that matters. I mean, Brady looked terrible at his combine and look where he is now.
Reply:the combine is a good tool to use for breaking ties you have for certon players. If you have players A and B at the same position tied as far as how much u like him u can break that tie bye things like speed and power and wonderlick tests depending on what position hes playing.
Reply:It's kind of important. Teams in the NFL draft based on accuracy and arm strength. Sometimes, the combine isn't accurate. Look at Tom Brady, he was drafted in the 6th round and he goes on to lead the Patriots to 3 super bowl wins.
Reply:its pretty important, it is used in combination with game film because if the player has the physical tools to succeed then they might be worth more than someone who dose not have the tools to succeed on the next level but did good in collage
Reply:i think it is like half and half you got to at least know what potential you can have. that allows teams to see if a guy is worth trading up for.just look at trent edwards last year. you know you can call me bad but id do just enough to get in so i wouldnt go to a sorry or rebuilding teamid take my chances with a winner.and then after winning for a few years id go for the money.
Reply:Columbine? That was the school where those 2 gothic meatheads shot and killed a bunch of kids.

Do you mean the Combines?
Reply:i would say it is over-hyped, but in the NFL u need skill and athleticism, Cromartie of the chargers would have been drafted much lower, although i was one of the few after seeing him in the combine that was DAMN!!! i want that guy, and look how it's turned out, but never put too much on the combine, the guy has to have intangibles ( Ryan leaf is an EX who didn't)
Reply:Is the columbine where angry college athletes get together to shoot at the coaches?

Or did you mean COMBINE?

It's a little different....just thought you should know.

It is useful, for measuring physical ability..... but it is way overrated, since it can't measure drive, motor, instincts, etc.

Plus, most of the top prospects don't even work out anymore. They are too scared it might hurt their draft status. Same reason most opt out of the Sr. Bowl.

Personally, I feel both should be mandatory. But I think they shouldn't be as important as game film.
Reply:Dick cheney threw it the farthest but he went undrafted and went on to a great career
Reply:The combine gives coaches and scouts a general idea of a players abilities. Teams go over everything before a player is drafted, game film, how they performed at the combine, personal workouts, attitude, work ethic, everything.
Reply:i believe its combine
Reply:really important because not all the scouts go to each players indivitual game this it the time where all the scouts can see ur talant

What happened to the teens involved in the Columbine Massacre?

Do you mean Klebold and Harris?

They are dead but famous and infamous

Some suriviors appeared in Mike Moore's Bowling for Columbine

The rest probably just went on with their lives

One bad day should not ruin someone's life

What happened to the teens involved in the Columbine Massacre?
They killed themselves
Reply:They committed suicide...see below for full story

After leaving the library, the pair went into the science area and threw a small fire bomb into an empty storage closet. When the bomb exploded, they ran off. A teacher in the adjacent room put out the fire. They then proceeded towards the South Hallway, stopped, and began shooting into an empty science room (SCI-8) at the end of the hall. Next, they went down the staircase into the cafeteria where they were first caught by the security cameras. The recording shows Harris attempting to detonate one of the failed propane bombs, without success; he then took a sip from one of the drinks left behind by fleeing students. Another Molotov cocktail was thrown, but it too failed. The two then left the cafeteria and went back up the stairs. As they did so, the cocktail exploded (this can be seen in the security tapes) causing a fire that was extinguished by the fire sprinklers; they left the cafeteria at around 11:50 a.m. Once back on the upper level, they walked around the main North and South Hallways of the school without any direction, shooting aimlessly. They walked through the South Hallway, past the Social Studies section, and into the main office before proceeding back onto the North Hallway. Several times they looked through the small windows on the classroom doors and even made eye contact with students, but never attempted to enter the rooms. After leaving the main office, the pair went up to a bathroom entrance and began taunting students inside, saying such things as "we know you're in there" and "let's kill anyone we find in here", but never actually entering the bathroom. At 11:55 a.m., the two returned to the Cafeteria and entered the kitchen briefly, only to return back up the staircase, and into the South Hallway, at 11:58 a.m..

Deaths of the shooters

35. Eric Harris (gunman) committed suicide by a single shot to the head.

36. Dylan Klebold (gunman) committed suicide by a single shot to the head.

At 12:05 p.m. the shooters entered the library again, but it was empty of all living students except for the unconscious Patrick Ireland and Lisa Kreutz (who played dead). It is not known what they did between the time they left the cafeteria and the time they re-entered the library. Once inside, they attempted to shoot out the windows at policemen, without success. They then moved over to the table next to where Matthew Kechter and Isaiah Shoels lay; there, they shot themselves, committing suicide. At 2:38 p.m., Patrick Ireland regained consciousness and crawled over to the windows, where he attempted to exit. He was then taken out of the school through the library windows by SWAT team members, in a famously televised scene. Lisa Kreutz remained injured in the library until police entered the scene at 3:25 p.m.; she was then removed, along with Ms. Nielson, Brian Anderson, and the three staff.
Reply:i believe they killed them selves rather than be taken alive
Reply:The killers committed suicide....as for the survivors.....they pretty much have "moved on" the best way they knew how after dealing with something so tragic.

There is one girl, I can't remember her name...sorry, she wrote a book about the whole ordeal.

I have been through a lot in my life, but I don't know if I could ever get over something like this.

Is Columbine and Cardinal Climber atracting to HUMMINGBIRDS?

I bought their seeds and need to know if they atract HUMMINGBIRDS! Can anyone tell me if they are and possibly some facts about HUMMINGBIRDS and plants they adore the most?

Is Columbine and Cardinal Climber atracting to HUMMINGBIRDS?
Cardinal climber is, columbine is not a great attractor. The like zinnias a lot, petunias, trumpet vines, and morning glories are all good.
Reply:any of the salvias, trumpet vines, hostas, honeysuckle, I've seen them around petunias also

What is the position or attitude on the documentary Bowling For Columbine?

Do you mean the attitude of the movie or our attitude towards the movie? For the former I'd say subjectively political on the part of the vial filmmaker. As for the latter, I'd say it was beneath it all unfeeling and disrespectful towards those to whom the tragedy befell.

What is the position or attitude on the documentary Bowling For Columbine?
Watch it.

It is clear enough what he is getting at. Mr Moore is not especially subtle about making a point.

Harvesting seeds from columbine plants?

The flowers have faded and pods are left. Do I let them dry on the plant or open the pods and place in a bag? I opened one pod and see several green seeds (I think they are seeds!).

Harvesting seeds from columbine plants?
Leave them to dry naturally until well into the autumn! The seeds are green because they're unripe, leave them to dry, then store in an airtight container for sowing next spring.

Columbines (Aquilegias) cross pollinate,so the seedlings will differ from the original plant.
Reply:Best to let them dry, and once they start to split, pick them carefully and shake the seed into a clean container for storage and/ or replanting
Reply:The seeds are black when dry. I have success cutting the plant down to the basal foilage and laying the cut plant on the ground where I want the seeds to be when they dry and the pods open; they plant themselves this way.
Reply:I wait until they dry up then put them in a bag and plant them the following year, I have had much success that way.

How can we keep something like Columbine and the Virgina Tech tragedy from occurring again?

How can we, not only avoid but stop these things altogether from ever happening in the future?

How can we keep something like Columbine and the Virgina Tech tragedy from occurring again?
impossible
Reply:YOU CAN'T. **** happens, it has for ever and will until there are no more humans. Such is life!
Reply:Dot gov does not protect the people here. This guy is the end result of an abusive culture. These smaller sub cultures always create this type of event. V Tech had their chance to address the situation and did not get to the bottom of it. I was just in a debate about how someone like that could possibly have a business license. I can point to a source of this type of person right now and the police are "supporting business" and have no interest in vicious conduct against people. It will happen again.
Reply:Very rarely will I agree with what Bush says, but this time I agree.

Whenever we have second thoughts on a person's attitude, we should do what is right, investigate.

Don' just pass it off and let it ride.

I am quite sure that you will see more attention given now to the behavior pattern of students.

This will open up a whole new field of opportunity for teacher's assistants who will be trained and provide the needed insight as to the condition each student is in.

I can see this happening real soon.
Reply:Something can be done but I think that it would be really difficult. Schools should check the kid's lockers and backpacks, make psychological evaluation to students and put those thing that they have in airports and government offices where they can detect if you carry a gun, a knive or something harmful. Colleges should have to check in regulary the dorms of the students, put those things to detect guns and knives and make psychological evaluation of students.
Reply:sadly these things can not be avoided completely.....as long as people have access to guns we are never safe.........the only way to be safe is to ban guns or any weapons but we cant do thatbecause how will we protect ourselves against enemies
Reply:You can't. There will always be some with defective brains. This one used two pistols. McVay used explosives. Many are getting ideas from watching the News about strapping explosives to their bodies are blowing themselves up in a crowd.

Who would suspect a person in a big winter coat in a crowded hockey arena ?

If a person is known to have a few loose screws, nothing can be done unless, or until he breaks the law - - - - and then it's too late.
Reply:God-WE CANT. Thats like asking how can we keep a bank from being robbed again or a car from being stolen again. Crimes happen.

There is not no one thing that can be done to keep school or workplace shootings from happening. All of the metal detectors, all of the gun laws, all of that is not gonna be able to stop someone on a suicide mission.

Granted, there are things we can do to help protect schools, but to make them 100% safe-it will never happen.
Reply:I don't think there is much. I know someone who went to school with one of the kids from Columbine and he said even at 9 you knew there was something just not right about him. Kids don't feel like they fit in. Until people care more about others before something bad happens it will still happen.
Reply:Love and Humbless.
Reply:The answer, is you can't. If you try to take guns off the street, it will bring up issues with the constitution. Taking guns off the streets seems like the best way to prevent these things, were it not impossible. Even if people were not allowed to own a guns, people would smuggle them in from Mexico, and sell them on the street, like drugs. Police officers could be put on duty at all schools, but even a cop can get shot. There are two otherr problems with police officers being put on duty at schools, people would make a fuss that they shouldn't be put on duty at private schools, making them the new targets, and in universities like Virginia Tech, there are more than one building, over a hundred, so it would require many police officers to be on duty at universities. These tragedies are horrible, yet law enforcers d othe best they can to stop these things all together. Lock downs work for high schools and middle schools and elementary schools, but for universities, they would be a waste of time. These events sadden us, and enrage us, but there is not much we can do. No matter how hard we try, there are always psychotic lunatics that will go crazy, get a gun, and shoot people.
Reply:When any one person is neglected by all, they become depressive and moody. This causes further neglect because no one wants to be around that person, for fear of it affecting their own mood. Thus, the person is further ostracized. It becomes a cyclical effect, and eventually can lead to suicide barring action on anyone else's part.

As for the killing aspect, I believe that it occurs when certain people who are so far out of the social loop want to take away that feeling of loneliness before they die. They literally are killing others so that when they die, they are joined by others.

This sounds horrible, but it is the truth of what is going on. As this question will likely receive some answers condemming Cho as a Satanist and other terrible things, you will understand that it is people who do not care about others, that create those who turn to death as the final solution.

So in short, if this is to be prevented, people need to reach out to the loners and help them before it is too late. Sadly though, humanity and its tragic flaws will now allow this to occur.
Reply:Invoke the second ammendment, allow any person with a gun license to carry a firearm with them at all times. If someone is homicidal, they will think twice about going on a shooting rampage like VT and Columbine if the people they intend to kill are able to defend themselves.
Reply:We can't. They have occurred periodically since the 1950's; the first to galvanize the media was the Texas sniper - 41 years ago.
