After see Bowling for Columbine, how do you feel about the issue about guns, etc. in United States?

I never saw that movie as being so anti-gun as it was about the fear mongering that leads to all the violence in the US.

That`s the problem, not guns.

I am a Canadian who owns several firearms, all of which are registered and I purchased after a lengthly criminal records check. Crime is much lower in Canada than in the US, not because of fewer guns but because we don`t have the fear being pumped into us 24/7.

I feel the movie pretty accurately shows the views of fear-mongering, hypocritical people that want to destroy the most base of human rights.
Reply:It doesn't matter how you feel.

The second amendment gives us the right to own guns.

Your feelings do not change the constitution.
Reply:It was a load of crap. One of the worst films ever.
Reply:This was a "documentary" that had more lies in it than a old time Communist propaganda movie.
Reply:Anything made by Micheal Moore is a bunch of BS. In my community everyone I know has a firearm for hunting or target shooting and we have no violent crime here. I strongly believe in the 2nd Amendment. The Second Amendment guarantees all of our rights and your freedom to post silly questions on YA. God Bless America.
Reply:Michael moore is one of the chief left wing propaganda ministers. all liberals are spineless. leave our GUNS ALONE.
Reply:Greetings. I have to wonder what in the world he was thinking. The United States has been at war, with periods of relative peace inbetween various declared and undeclared wars ever since the revolution. Wars mean that young men are expected to take up arms and go kill the enemy, whoever the government decides is the enemy of the moment, with them. Just about every generation of our nation has existed as a war was being waged. So the film gives the impression that we should outlaw firearms and not allow the young to get to know how to use them and how to take care of them, but instead to depend on some benevolent government to take care of them so there is no need for them to be able to defend themselves. Despite the fact that if one goes into the military with a aversion to firearms and a complete ignorance of them, a few weeks of military training and shooting at paper targets is not going to change the aversion that has been drummed into them since they were able to talk. Is sort of like the really ignorant anti-war religions we hold so dear here that say "Thou Shalt not Kill" and then after preaching that to the children their entire young life suddenly thrust a weapon into their hands and wonder why they make such lousy soldiers when they are told to go out and kill strangers in the name of the government. Ignorance of how to use a firearm is not a blessing in this day and age. it is a death sentence when using one is your only possible way to survive and you cannot overcome the senseless propaganda and religious dogma that you have been immersed in and suddenly change into a warrior. Maybe by magic. In most of the other movies made by Moore he shows that the government cannot be trusted to do anything right. And yet he says in Bowling for Columbine that the people should outlaw the only weapon that the people have that prevents the government from making total slaves out of them. It makes no sense. Every country that has outlawed firearms, like England, Australia, Canada, and others. Have all had increased crime when the public no longer had a means of self protection.
Reply:I'm glad I own mine!
Reply:You'll have to pry mine from my dead body.
Reply:i personaly own 11 guns and i have one with me were ever i go. and no one can take them away without some people dying in the process
Reply:Guns not the issue if people want to kill each other they will find a way
Reply:"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." -- Thomas Jefferson Papers (C.J. Boyd, Ed. 1950)

The actions of the VERY FEW are paraded around so that those who want to control everything can have a poster issue.

People die. Daily, from auto, disease, old age, and the list goes on. From the moment your conceived you have already begun to die. Face it.

I am sorry that children have died from such actions as Columbine, but the fact will always remain..............

An unarmed human is a slave.

An armed human is a citizen.

Politicians prefer their slaves, i mean subjects, i mean citizens unarmed.

I say read what our founding fathers had to say.
Reply:Haven't seen it, haven't even heard of it.

I feel that as many have said before - the primary reason for the second amendment is to ensure the first, and/or all others. Or that in the event the 1st amendment (redress of grievances, etc.) fails to control a tyrannical government, the second guarantees the people's choice and style of self-governance.

Those who argue for gun control, argue from a position of ignorance and no facts can support them.

"The constitutions of most of our States assert that all power is inherent in the people; that... it is their right and duty to be at all times armed." --Thomas Jefferson to John Cartwright, 1824.

"You need only reflect that one of the best ways to get yourself a reputation as a dangerous citizen these days is to go about repeating the very phrases which our founding fathers used in the great struggle for independence." -- Attributed to Charles Austin Beard (1874-1948)
Reply:Do you actually use ludicrous Hollywood propaganda films to form serious opinions.

Whether you are a liberal or a conservative you need to seek out a more serious source to base your opinions on.

I like John Lotts book "More Guns, Less Crime". It uses facts and data to illustrate its point, not hysteria and emotions.

Ether way you go; Mikey Moore and Al Gore are complete buffoons, you need to look beyond their movies.
Reply:Michael Moore is fat and dumb. Maybe the parents need to take responsibility for not knowing what kind of trouble their kids may be in.
