It is all about violence in general in your society. Parents are using spanking, which is considered a very normal and good way to discipline kids. By spanking kids you simply teach them to solve problems with violence. I can see why parents are using spanking: kids and teenagers in the US are regarded as imbeciles who don`t even know what they feel themselves and therefore being pressured to stay and being treated as babies until they are as old as 17 - 18 y old. They are too immature for sex ( which is pure non sens ), the natural development in their bodies are being seen as daemonic and evil. They have to feel frustrated, angry and depressed. When you additional to that have other problems like being ridiculed at school, the bomb explodes.Especially when it is so easy to buy guns.

Over 40,000 U.S. citizens are slaughtered EACH and EVERY years in the U.S. by guns. No other developed nation in the world suffers from such a horrible annual massacre in their homeland from guns. Why did these boys do what they did? Because the National Rifle Association and the arms dealers and manufactuers "call the shots", pun fully intended, in this nation and they LIKE this culture of slaughter, and their profits from the slaughter, JUST FINE. That's why. Think about. Why are we "searching" for weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East, bombing people's homes and schools and cities when we could just go to the source and bomb the homes of arm's dealers and politicians who support them here in the U.S. and elsewhere, THEIR factories, THEIR children's schools? We would end the real problem of this insane slaughter: the self-serving profitting of the arms industry.
Reply:It's hard to say why anyone does anything-- let alone people who harm others.





From what I've read/heard, the boys were very troubled. They felt like outcasts and I suppose this was a way for them to get the attention that they so desperately longed for. They were also very obsessed with violent movies, games, etc which probably gave them the idea to shoot people.





Whatever the reason was, they obviously didn't think of the effects it would have on others, including their own families. All we can do is learn from it and pray that the people who need help receive it or seek for it themselves instead of going through these senseless rampages.
Reply:Because the public school system lies when they say they have 'Bully Policies'. My kids have had this very problem. It seems that *some* of the coaches for the sports teams practically condone this. Since its obvious some parents don't teach about bullying, or even encourage their kids to bully, schools need to implement a few different kinds of mandatory humanist type studies, beginning with kindergarten. Too bad the Golden Rule is not enough. Proper treatment of our fellow humans should be examined closely from day 1 of kindergarten. Bringing in a disabled kid in a wheel chair, or a little girl with no hair from cancer treatments once a year to talk about their problems in a gym full of kids just isn't enough to sensitize children to this horrible problem.





So aside from the shooters themselves, I also hold the bullies who were torturing the shooters, the parents of the bullies themselves, and the school staff who turned the other way equally responsible as well.





Gun control and allowing bullies to bully is the direct cause of the Columbine disaster.

the only time thats happened here (scotland) was a grown adult peadophile in a kids primary


no teenagers go around shooting people here


guns are not freely available here





also i think american teenagers have way too much pressure on them


things just arnt like that here


theres the normal teenage things


being cool, being liked, bullying, lack of things to do etc etc


normal teenage and youth related things





american teenages have so much peer pressure


to succeed


to be the cool ones


the popular ones





no one is popular here





there is infact one UNPOPULAR group here (neds) and thats it


and EVERYONE dislikes them


because they are really bad people who do really bad things and make life miserable for everyone-children, teenagers and adults





no-one is favoured in school any more than the rest


no-one is bullied any more than the rest


all equally get liked and disliked in proportion





sports are not looked as the most important and infact even though smart is still laughed at, they dont get bullied they way american kids do and are more likely to succeed in school and in the working world than the american ''jocks and cheerleders'





there is no jocks or cheerleaders in britain


that is what creates the chain of favouritisim in american high schools, when someones at the top there is always someone at the bottom

even the nerds


the sports


the goths


the shys





no-one and everyone feels the same here


everyone feels like an outcast as a teenager therby creating a unified outcast group and not 1 or 2 outcast truly alone people





america needs to grow up


they are really messing their kids up
