Columbine flowers??

Help! I planted columbines from seed packets in the third week of April in my garden. I have something growing but they really look like weeds to me. What do columbines look like before they flower? Pictures would be very helpful! There is one plant that is very tall. I dont want to pull them but I am concerned that I am nurturing weeds! Is there any way to tell a weed from a flower? I am new at this! Thanks!!

Leaves both basal and alternate on the stem, 1-3 times compound, with each division in threes. Those at base and on lower stem are large (to l' long) with long primary and secondary stalks, but become much reduced upward. The small leaflets, in threes, are more or less oval with rounded lobes. Foliage is usually a gray-green color, though there is variability here.

Yes, columbine sown from seeds in spring generally will not bloom the first year. Also, some columbine foliage tends to fade from the garden in the heat of summer. You should always plant other flowers with columbine so you are not left with a hole in your garden when the foliage fades away.
Reply:At first the leaves are sort of rolled/curled up together and then they open up more and become a separate leaf on a stem. The leaf is shaped like a clover only it is not 3 separate leaves like a clover, it is more ruffled looking on the edge. The leaves stay nearer the bottom of the plant and stocks grow up through the middle.
Reply:Look at the leaves and yes they are about one foot tall.
Reply:You really needed the seeds in/on the ground last fall. Just leave them alone and see what you've got.
