I Have Questions About The Columbine Massacre?

1)why didn't the police go in the school?

2)what took the police so long to get there?

3)where's the swat team?

4)how did these teens get a hold of automatic weapons?

5) where's the on campus security guards?

if the murderers didn't kill themself more people may have been injured or killed because the cops just hid behind the cars shooting with their 9mm or 45. yeah thats gonna do it. u have a 9mm and the ohter guy have an assault rifle.

I Have Questions About The Columbine Massacre?
The police did go into the school after they were reasonably certain that students inside were out of danger.

The time to get to the scene was affected by the time it took to report the incident more than anything else.

The swat team was there. You can see them clearly on taped records

The weapons were purchased at various gun shows, some with fake or stolen ID's and some by 18 year old friend of the perpetrators.

It is not, or at least it was not the norm to have security guards on a high school campus.

I do not recall the police having a shootout with the people involved or the police being shot at.

The police were not "just hiding" behind cars and there were a few rifles and shotguns on the police side as well.
Reply:the 2 boys set a bomb off about 300 yards away from the school to draw the attention to the bomb and take attention away from the school, a friend bought them there weapons The thing that gives me some peace is that those 2 boys are burning in hell right now though. Report It

Reply:i don't think the cops knew how many people were in the school shooting.
Reply:Two words, Waco Texas. Alot of the policies set in place were set after the public outcry over Waco.
Reply:1.) At the time, the procedure being taught was to create a perimeter and wait for SWAT to arrive.

2.) The response time for the first officers was fine; but they staged outside-see #1.

3.) The SWAT team takes time to assemble, brief, and deploy. It can be an hour or more before this process is complete.

There is a new tactic being taught to police officers- the "Initial Response to an Active Shooter". Now, if there is actually shooting still occurring, it is no longer appropriate to wait for SWAT to arrive. Officers are trained to respond immediately to the threat.
Reply:there is more to the Columbine massacre than most people know. 1. school officials had a written report to be on the lookout for odd behaviors of students who posed a physical or harmful threat to the school. They actually paid a consultant who predicted that this would happen. The school was aware of certain behaviours of these students and took no action. As for the police, you can't use an assault rifle if you don't have one. 2. most police are not trained in SWAT tactics. Most SWAT teams only operate in urban areas and have a long response time when called to other areas. There is now training in place to assist the police with tactics in schools with active shooters.
