how do you feel about the shootings? do you know any poetry dedicated to either tradgedy? if you do, or you need to talk please share

What do you think of V-Tech and Columbine?
I think it's ridiculous for some one to be so demented that they have no respect for their own life let alone the lives of others that they would just go in and kill as many as possible before taking their own life. We need to help people at the root of the problem it's in their minds. Yes Cho had help available but he refused it. If only he'd have gotten the help he needed then we might have adverted another tragedy. What really irritates me is how our media reports this junk. What are they trying to do make more copy cat incidents? Think about that one. I don't know of any sites or poetry for each case but it'd be nice to find some. Thanks for asking this question.
Reply:The Virginia Tech and Columbine massacres were horrible, horrible tragedies but already they are fading from public view. Only those who have suffered a personal loss will still be faced with the intense struggle to overcome their grief for their tremendous loss and restructure their life. As they struggle to cope with their grief they will temporarily resolve it in many different ways but it will never go away, there will be triggers that bring it all back again in vivid detail.

After the reports have been filed, the investigations have been completed and the recommendations made, the public will calm down and feel secure, then complacent again.

Most of the people in the self-help group Parents of Murdered Children have strong feelings about this issue as well as Citizens against Homicide. (Members of both national groups have suffered the loss of a loved one to homicide) Compassionate Friends is also a self-help group however it is for parents who have lost a child to any cause homicide, accidental death or disease.

Emotionally, it is nearly impossible to process such a horrible event. Sometimes people react in stages such as denial, anger, humor and blaming. This is a normal chain of reaction to tragedy towards the acceptance of the event.

“At any time of stress, people are going to turn to poetry. Emotionally, it goes to the heart of things,” said poet and Virginia Tech writing teacher Nikki Giovanni in an April 12 interview.
