Put Obama Aside, What Possessed Huckabee To Make Such A Grim Joke? With The Columbine & V-Tech Tragedies,?

as part of our history, why would a seemingly normal human being make jokes about somebody aiming a gun at another person in this country? Has Huckabee's tasteless joke made you look at him differently?

Put Obama Aside, What Possessed Huckabee To Make Such A Grim Joke? With The Columbine %26amp; V-Tech Tragedies,?
If Obama made those jokes, the media would be all over it.

And then we would have the same questioners on Y/A talking about how unAmerican he is.

Does anyone see the double standard?

Its okay for a White man to joke about those things but not a biracial or Black man.
Reply:Hmm.....I think Huckabee is a good person inside, with a lot of bad environmental factors around. It comes from being around people who don't have a normal sense of humor. He said he grew up in a segregated south, so I'm certain he grew up around people who liked it just like it was and hated when integration was started. I don't think he shares the hate of black people, I just think he hasn't completely grown out of it. It made me a little disappointed actually. I still think he is a person of character, but maybe not as much as I once thought.
Reply:I think he was just able to hold back %26amp; felt loose with the badasses at the NRA. This is good cause it showed who he really is %26amp; with McCain out in the spotlight more we will see more revealed about him. Obama %26amp; Hillary have been under the watchful eye of everyone now for along time %26amp; have done so well. This is what shows me the truth about a person. Not how well they can coverup. McCains schedule has about as much on in a week then Obama has in a day. I'd like to see him in the spotlight more %26amp; see how tired he gets, how many stupid things he says %26amp; how often he loses his emotional control. I just think we didn't really see enough of Huckabee before. With lots of exposure we see what they are really like.
Reply:I agree with you, murder is never a laughing matter regardless of your audience. Huckabee seemed like a nice guy in the beginning but then he turned into a clown. Now, I am just shocked because of the serious of the implications. It was very bad timing in a country where so many crazy people, with guns, are running around committing mass murder. We must not forget the assassinations of former presidents and national hero's.

I was the person Budda was referring to. I made the statement about this joking behavior being UN-American, and I stand by the statement; perhaps because I am old enough to remember the hero's that we lost, the Kennedy's and Dr. King. The country was heart broken.

Peace
Reply:I actually think it speaks to his low opinion of NRA members. He was probably thinking "heh, they're all a bunch of reactionary racists who think Obama is the antichrist; they'll love it if I make a joke about killing him." It speaks to the cynical and condecending way that Republicans exploit gun owners and religious people, most of whom are well-meaning, even if I don't agree with them.
Reply:Huck is an ignorant *** perpetuating the stereotypical Arkansan. Many of us here in Arkansas dislike the man with a passion. I am not an Obama person but his remark was out of line.

And in response to "greatbuddha" ... Huckabee is getting a ton of negative attention due to his remarks ... you are the only one I've seen bring up race instead of this being just a plain stupid thing to say ... no matter what color.
Reply:Huckabee was at a NRA meeting and tried to be one of the good ol boys. Maybe he didn't realize he was being recorded?? Either way, it was tasteless and shows his TRUE personality. That was quite an evil remark. Goes to show there doesn't seem to be a good Republican these days.

Greatbud: I agree with you. If Obama made this joke that would be the end of his candidacy. What a double standard!

Here is the video URL for all: http://youtube.com/watch?v=fFnuF4_H2Vo
Reply:It was an off-the-cuff response in a spur of the moment occasion. Give the man a break, he is no longer running for President. The man that is running that we need to keep our eyes on is Obama. If you guys could get beyond the color, maybe you could see the outrageousness about Obama. Something is wrong when 91% of a race vote along racial lines without regard to the issues.
Reply:Being from where everyone owns a gun it just never accrued

to him that some people gets a knee jerk reaction to the sight

of a pocket knife. Here, we would have laughed it off. No

"Huckabee's tasteless joke" only puts another rankle in my nose

when I see or hear of thin skin people's reaction to such a

trivial remark. Oh! and I'm a democrat !
Reply:I think he did not want to feel left out.

It seems all Preachers nowadays must say something stupid to stay in The Public's thoughts and minds.

he must have felt that folks were forgetting about him already.

I always liked Huckabee, as a talk show or variety show host, not as President.

To use an appropriate saying,I do think that he has "shot himself in the foot' with that remark.
Reply:when you get in a group or "gang" of like folks, you forget you're on a national scene level--he forgot that his every move is taped now "live"!

ha ha

he was at the NRA where a gunshot joke is acceptable, but never about a U.s. candidate, knowing the history of our country. he boo-booed big time!
Reply:Great Bud... I agree with you.

If Obama had made a "joke" like Huckabee did, Rush Limbaugh and Hannity wouldn't let it go.

For a so called minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ I think Huckabee is a disgrace to Christianity !
Reply:Huckabee is human and he made a bad, tastelessw joke like most people do at one time or another. I don't defend him, but let's not make a mountain out of a molehill.
Reply:Because it was not a joke it was put out there by Huckabee as a shaded suggestion. Something I have come to expect from the republicans and I am suprised that hillary or bill did not say it first.
Reply:He said that cause Obama insulted his religion saying he clings to it out of being bitter and guns cause we are angry, Obama wants to take away guns from everyone who legally owns one! I thought it was funny.
Reply:I never really cared much about him. But if he gets the nominated for VP I will surely vote against him.
Reply:No- it just strengthens my belief that Obama supporters are big babies. The joke was made at an NRA meeting, for pete's sake!
Reply:It was funny. We can't be serious all the time. It was no more in bad taste than Reverand Wrights rants.
Reply:Oh lighten up. The man is human and made a stupid mistake. Nobody knows that better than himself.
Reply:He should take the Twinkie Defense and go away.
Reply:Sorry, Do you have a video... i missed huck's comments...
Reply:you have no right. You democrats have the nerve to attack Mike Huckabee for making a joke about a gun. I dont view him differently because last time i checked no one was perfect. I think its just because the GOP is doing so well right now that you feel the need to make us look bad. well have fun because its not working, your waisting your own time.
Reply:as compared to the crap Obama has said? Not even close. And next time, provide a link or keep quiet!
